Hi!
My name is Jenn. I am so lucky to be in San Francisco, surrounded by fellow food lovers at Williams Sonoma. I’m always eating (mostly pastries), baking and meeting chefs. This blog allows me to share all the delicious moments with you.
How I fell in love with pastry…
Cake mixes. That’s how I started when I was 9. I didn’t know cake mix “taste” was a thing so I was proud of what I made at that age. I was introduced to the world of pastry through Pastry Chef Gale Gand‘s, Sweet Dreams and Jacque Torres’ Passion for Pastry back in the early days of Food Network and have never looked back.
In 2012, I took my passion for pastry one step further and graduated from Tante Marie Cooking School with a certificate in pastry arts. I continue to bake and recipe test when I’m not busy scoping out new bakeries in town and scarfing down kouign amanns. (Seriously, they’re the new cupcakes.)
My present day inspirations include chefs Pierre Herme, Dominique Ansel, Will Werner and David Lebovitz, not only for his pastry skills but also his amusing story-telling of life in Paris on his blog.
Some things about me…
I fell in love with Paris at first bite of chocolate crepe in my 2nd grade French class.
I am a late night baker. Like writers who think better in the evening, I get inspired around 11pm. Sorry, neighbors. IOU cookies in the morning?
I keep bulk bags of flour and sugar in my closet and baking pans under my bed. Welcome to the city.
I like the word moist when describing cakes. #SorryNotSorry if it makes you cringe.
I think chefs are like rock stars. I will either completely fan girl and ask a million questions or shut down and want to crawl under a rock.
I dream of having a closet just for cake stands, organized by color. It exists. (See: Martha Stewart’s prop room)
