One week wandering the streets of Paris… no museums or long lines, no Eiffel Tower, just food. I returned home mid-August but was in denial that I had really left a city that I fell in love with. The idea of blogging and writing in past tense would only emphasize the fact that the trip is OVER. But alas back to reality. I am however, very excited to share my Paris with you.
Movie Cakes: Because I Said So
Now that I’ve covered the kitchens, I can’t leave out the cakes in the movie. All the cakes were done by Los Angeles cake creators, Joanie & Leigh, otherwise known as the Cake Divas. I remember first seeing them as contestants on an old episode of Food Network Challenge.
Here are the cake creations that are so perfectly representative of each character’s personality.

Dream Movie Kitchens: It’s Complicated
After ogling at the colorful and quirky kitchens from Because I Said So, I knew I had to post Meryl Streep’s character’s kitchen from It’s Complicated. If I had to pick a dream kitchen this would be it. Of course I say that until Nancy Meyer comes out with another romantic comedy with an amazing design I’m sure I’ll want.

Meryl Streep in the dining room with a view of the gorgeous kitchen. I like how it is open so there is continuity from one room to the next. The oval arch is a nice architectural feature.
Dream Movie Kitchens: Because I Said So, Daphne Wilder
Equally as charming as her daughter’s kitchen, these are a few favorite things from Daphne Wilder’s cooking space and home.

Diane Keaton, as the mother, fixing dinner in her kitchen with a shelf in the background with gorgeous blue hued plates.
Dream Movie Kitchens: Because I Said So, Milly Wilder
With Mother’s Day coming up, I was reminded of the movie, Because I Said So, starring Diane Keaton as Daphne Wilder, the overbearing mother to daughter Milly Wilder, played by Mandy Moore. It’s not my all time favorite romantic comedy but I find myself re-watching because both the mother and daughter, cake artist and caterer respectively, have really colorful and inviting kitchens that I would love to have.
Take a look at Milly’s culinary spaces.

Teaching a cooking class in her work kitchen for her catering company, Good Enuf to Eat. I love the orange and lime striping that go across the room. I also noticed the colors get picked up as well in the grated cheese and herbs on the chopping boards.
